The single pages share some options with the single posts, like the featured image placement options, and the different templates. They also have their own unique options, shared below.

Hide a page title

There are some layouts where you may want to hide the page title output by the theme, and replace it with a block so it can be styled differently.

For this, the Newspack Themes include an option to hide the page title on a page-by-page basis.

To hide the page title on a specific page:

  1. Edit a page, or create a new one.
  2. When the Page tab is selected on the right, in the Status & visibility panel, you should see a toggle labelled Hide page title.
  1. Toggle on the Hide page title option.
  2. Click Update.

Homepage-specific settings

The homepage is a special page all its own, with its own functionality.

Hide the Homepage page title

The Homepage’s page title will be hidden by default if you set up your site using the Newspack Wizard.

You can access the control to show/hide the page title for the homepage by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to Customizer > Homepage Settings.
  2. Check or uncheck the Hide Homepage Title option.
  3. Click Publish.

This option will only work if your homepage is set to display a static page.

Make the Home page a splash page

The Newspack Theme includes an option to make the homepage into a ‘splash’ page by removing the site’s header and footer. This is helpful for sites that haven’t launched yet, as it lets you create a standalone page without a navigation.

Note that any other pages or posts you publish on the site while this option is enabled will still be accessible if someone knows the URL or finds them via search.

To enable this option:

  1. Navigate to Customizer > Homepage Settings.
  2. Check the option to Make the homepage a splash page.
  3. Click Publish.

This option will only work if your homepage is set to display a static page.
